The scientific workshop “Ben Tre develops green and sustainably, towards Net Zero” was successfully held, marking an important step forward in enhancing the position of Ben Tre coconut industry in the international arena. As one of the largest coconut granaries in the country, Ben Tre has been making constant efforts to develop the coconut industry sustainably, contributing to the goal of reducing global greenhouse gases.
 
Achievements and potentials
Ben Tre coconut industry has achieved remarkable achievements, with more than 200 diverse coconut products produced and exported. However, to meet the increasing demands of the market and international economic integration, Ben Tre province has been focusing on applying science and technology, improving product quality and building a sustainable value chain.
 
The workshop focused on core issues such as:
 
Sustainable development of the value chain: Delegates discussed solutions to build a complete coconut value chain, from production to consumption, ensuring sustainability and efficiency.
 
Coconut industry and low carbon economy: Experts shared international experiences and proposed appropriate policies so that the Ben Tre coconut industry can participate in the carbon credit market, contributing to reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
 
Application of science and technology: The workshop introduced the latest technologies in the fields of agriculture, biology and processing, to improve the productivity and quality of coconut products.
 
Regional linkage and market expansion: Delegates discussed linking coconut growing regions to create large scale, meeting the needs of the export market.
 
Through the workshop, the province hopes that the Ministry of Science and Technology, together with central ministries, branches, experts, scientists, businesses and investors, will continue to pay attention to and support Ben Tre in particular and coconut growing provinces and cities in general on issues related to sustainable development of coconut trees, as well as the potential and opportunities to participate in the Carbon market of the coconut industry in Ben Tre province.
